The Perfect Time vs The Right Time

Posted on

There is a difference between the “perfect moment” and the “right time” to perform an activity (some may say that difference is small- a thin line- others will say it is big- a chasm). Albeit, we must understand that these two phrases have different meanings (at least to me) and I’ll show you why and how:

When we say, “I am waiting for the perfect moment to write this article” (sorry, I am a writer), we are actually saying, I’m waiting for the moment with no resistance when I can write this article. It sounds like that’s not the meaning, but the truth is that it really is, and it hurts our thoughts (I wonder why the truth hurts). Waiting for the perfect moment is like waiting for the battle to be over before lifting your weapon. You must always be faced with resistance in this space-time reality; you can’t even walk without it! You can do nothing without resistance. You must exude a force that makes it possible to set anything in motion- to start anything or do anything. Laws are proven and “re-proven” (don’t mind that language) hypotheses and laws, and one of such is Isaac Newton’s second law of motion which says for every action, there’s an equal but opposite reaction. My dear, it is a waste of time to wait for the perfect moment to do anything- there is none! Resistance is an essential force of life; try walking on a surface with very little or no resistance, you’ll either fall or sink depending on the texture of the materials that make up that surface. What then should one do? One must exude a force that is greater than the force of the resistor (I never knew I was this good in physics.lol). You must develop the capacity and the system that is able to generate this greater force.

On the other hand, the right time is the moment where the events and persons (stakeholders in that project or activity) possess the minimum level of readiness to execute that project. Sometimes, (or many times) one has to influence and expedite this readiness; this is the essence of leadership. Someone said, “Do not wait for the perfect moment, take the moment and make it perfect”. I’ll say, Take any moment and make it perfect! It is your amount of readiness that is the largest determinant of the rightness of time for that project. I think this is the time (in this article) to talk about SMART goals. If you are reading this, chances are you already know about them. So, if you like to plan and “overplan” like me, just make sure that after careful consideration (that’s my “overplanning” self, speaking again) it is Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Realistic, and very importantly, Time-bound.

Now, there’s also the wrong time to get a project done (started). That’s why I said, the right time is the time when the events and persons possess the minimum level of readiness to execute a project. For example, now, that the naira to dollar ratio is around 1:400, may not the best time to keep buying goods in bulk (if you’re an importer that buys in dollars). Your customers may not understand the naira-dollar quagmire, or they may not want to purchase now, if they feel they can do without the products for a while. Hey, it may be the best time, if after careful research and study, you find out that the ratio will still increase, and your customers’ need (demand) for those products will increase with it.

In the end, I think you’ll know when you are wasting time (waiting for the perfect moment).

To put this together the way I want, I have to ask a lot of questions. I have to consider a lot of stuff and consult with few folks- those fellas at the geriatric homes. You have to have maximum level of endurance, tolerance, and patience energy domiciled in you before speaking with them. They prefer to use their own language and old fashioned style of speaking, but love to use new methods that will make them stay alive. Not that I even got what I wanted after these consultations and meetings. I think I’ll just settle for what I can get at this time. Despite the technology to boost their memory, they couldn’t remember a thing. Those memories have wandered into oblivion- to nothingness.

Kylie is a beautiful lady; she’s six months, twelve days, six hours, forty two minutes, and thirteen seconds older than I am. I wouldn’t have lasted this far in life without her. She taught me most of the things I know, and is always helping me get my stuff done. Her wisdom is rare, and her strength is unmatched anywhere in the world. Say I’m being sentimental, that’s your opinion. Today, she’s walking down the aisle to be joined with me. I’ve always anticipated this day since she said “Yes I will marry you Femi”. I recorded those sound waves in the hard drive of my brain, playing them every day immediately I get up, before I rest, and anytime I’m not talking. She speaks of me as being collected, dapper, and humorous. She added “Carer” to my name, saying I care too much. Anytime I think of how much she appreciates me, there’s always this smile that’s planted in my face, making my lips stretch almost to my ears.

As I stood by the beach, the priest standing in a position to me that will make our arms form a right angled triangle if we were to stretch them out from our position. I smiled as I saw Kylie walk down. A tear dropped down my right eye as I watched the love of my life walk towards me, to become my wife in a matter of minutes.  I was lost in that ambience so much that I didn’t notice she was already in position until I heard the voice of the Priest, “Femi, do you take Kylie here to be your lawfully wedded wife, to love and cherish, until you both are no more?” “Yes, I’ll always do” was my reply. He repeated the same question to Kylie, and she answered in the affirmative. We were asked to say our voiced. “Her love is a force, one so strong; it leaves me breathless at her sight. Like the force around a dead star, more than a billion times the sun, pulling me into a black hole of unfathomable depths of affection- in fact, bottomless. I’m hoping we explode in this hole of togetherness. I’ll forever love you Kylie.” “How do you explain his bright eyes? Where do you find words to describe eyes that are still bright even after many reflections? They keep shining long after he is out of sight. How do you explain his creative mouth? That conducts, convects and radiates life. Energy proceeds from him like a machine with an unending supply of fuel. Like a dam with endless flow of water. Like a turbine, constantly receiving air. I’ll flow with you Femi to the end of time. Love you.” I could see the audience clapping, many crying, others smiling, some doing both. Everyone present felt the love. “I now pronounce you man and wife”, said the priest. “You may kiss your bride.” Without hesitation, I planted a kiss, and I could see she felt every inch of everything my mouth was made of in that one implantation. She reciprocated, and for two minutes we were on the kissing journey.  It was one of the best moments of my life, one I made sure I kept in my brain.

The wedding was over, and everyone left for their various engagements. As I lay on my bed, I felt her arms cuddle me, she asked me to keep my eyes shut as she straddled me and gave the most passionate sex I’ve ever had, that left me moaning and groaning like one releasing urine from an overflowing bladder. Well, this is my first sex anyway. With climax, I uploaded my genetic content to her portal on IncubateMe website where her eggs were waiting to be fertilized, and I was sure in six months our baby will be born. This sex suit from e-sex is the best invention ever. You can actually have sex with your spouse from wherever you are, no matter where he/she is. Today is 14th February 2394. The day the first marriage between robots took place in the history of the world. My wife is an Australian cook, and I am a Nigerian Drycleaner and Launderer. We married from our different locations with 294 million humans and 620 million robots in attendance from all over the world, thanks to e-weddings of MarriageHub.

“What one thing would you like to solve in your country if you had the power?” – My Response

Hello Friends,

So I was asked that question recently, and this is what I responded with. Enjoy!

Information is the most formidable adversary to the underdevelopment of any society. It will, at any time, defeat underdevelopment just as light defeats darkness. As a matter of fact, darkness is not an entity itself, it’s what we get in the absence of light, just as cold is the absence of (enough) heat. We have heard many times, and we even agree with the statement, “If you are not informed you will be deformed”. This statement is true both literarily and figuratively, as information is the number one weapon against the crippling effect of underdevelopment.

Information is light, that’s why it’s always linked with “enlightenment”. Absence of information takes us back to the “dark- age” which was ended by the emergence of the Industrial Revolution that was predicated on access to information.

I would ensure literacy- mass literacy- and by literacy I do not mean ability to read and write. I mean ability to understand oneself and one’s world. What I mean by “one’s world” is both the people and things that one relates with in particular, and the global community in general. Mass literacy is human capacity development, it is ensuring that persons are capable physically, mentally, socially, and spiritually, of generating societal development.

The purpose of Education is to bring out inherent qualities, whilst transferring needed skills, knowledge, and attitudes from the educator to the learner. Information dissemination is the essence of education, and this will achieve two general things: It will fuel individual uniqueness that will breed innovation (and personal and national development), and it will transfer essential attributes for global citizenship.

Other things mass literacy will achieve are: improved quality of life, prevention of diseases, and sustainable development. These are the solutions I’ll (continue to) create as I attract greater influence and power.

Share your thoughts, comment. Thank you.

How about You, Lionel Messi and Taribo West on the same team?

Posted on

Hey guys, how are you enjoying the new year? (Please let me know in the comment box).

So, I finally got to watch the FIFA Ballon D’Or awards last night (tuesday), though not intentionally, and not all of it anyway. Just the part that Lionel received the Ballon D’Or- for the fifth time. Yeah, I know I’m kinda late. I’m not that much of a football guy. That doesn’t mean I’m one of those over serious fellas (ask people that know me personally, they’ll tell you). I love watching football – the 9mins highlights by Supersports. God bless the guys that brought the idea of highlights. How would people like me have coped?

image

Before Lionel Messi received the award, they played some of his highlights in different matches during the past season, and boy oh boy, that guy is awesome. Well, everybody knows that already. I saw some “wonders” and I was like, “Wetin! Guy you too good!” (Someone should translate that to English in the comments box please).  When I see that guy play (highlights of course.lol) I just keep wondering how someone can be this good. I tell my friends that if one says he’s a footballer, he should watch Lionel Messi and after watching still decides to become a footballer because he/she truly feels and knows that he/she has the potential to meet and surpass that level of skill then he/she is good to go. If not, he/she is good to go too! But to go back to his/her soul for clarity and to the pitch, for training- it may still be football. I don’t need to tell you to put this wisdom to work in your own niche.

Did I hear someone say this is comparison? It’s not brother sister, it is aiming high. Did you see “meet” and “surpass” above? Another person is saying “what if I’m a defender?” Lolz, please look for a defender that does his job beyond excellently and apply the same principle. Taribo West or somebody……………..

………..Why are you laughing?

New Year, Time, You, and I

Posted on Updated on

Hey Guys!

image

You know the season of the year we are in and all the motivational and life coaching stuff that comes with it. So, I’ll not attempt to lecture you on the do’s and don’t’s of this time.

The coming year is bringing some thoughts, and I’ll like to share. If you’re reading this and you’re already in 2016, interpret it as “the new year brought some thoughts, and I’ll like to share”.

I have an event for 2nd of January 2016 organised by Christ Ambassadors (Past teenagers of Achiever’s Garden, RCCG Glorious Chapel), and that day seems far when I think of it. But the reality is that the event is less than 43hours from now! You see, we sometimes, (unconsciously) think that after a year, time will wait for us to bask in the euphoria of a new year before beginning the new year, and time and time again, time has told us that she’s got no breaks!! Time doesn’t care baby! She respects no nigga or “niggress”!!

There’s no New Year, just a new day! We just count 365/366 sunrises and sunsets, call it one year, and start counting another set of days again and the cycle goes on and on. We developed a machine- the watch/clock- to keep track of movement of planetary bodies, and after some moments, we say one minute, one hour, one week, one year has passed.

What am I really saying? In the midst of this season or any other season, we must bear in mind that these moments we have are more than enough but are beyond our control. There’s enough time to do or achieve anything we want, but we don’t just control it, because here in this 3-dimensional universe, time is a boss!

Celebrate, dance, sing, party, laugh, play, look for trouble, but do not put your life on hold just to celebrate this time. Cheers!!

Happy New Year guys! I wanna go and celebrate!

Thank you for reading. Let me hear your thoughts, I smile whenever I see them.

Shoutout to MARYHILL I hope you now know I post a blog.

“What does love mean to you?” My response

Posted on Updated on

It’s Christmas day!! (Well, depending on what part of the world you are now).

image

Sometime ago, a friend asked a question “What does love mean to you?”. I thought it will be nice to share my reply here, since it’s a season of love (although all seasons are of love anyway). Here’s my reply:

What love means to me………..hmmmm. If everyone is expected to write on this theme, I believe plain sheet of paper will become rarer than paper currency in the whole world. Different people have different conceptions about love shaped mostly by experience, some by hearsay, and others by intuition. Some say “love is a serious mental disease”, others say “love is wicked”, another group say, “God is love”, some also say “I don’t believe in love”. But truth be told, love is the force of life. Life is made up of a series of relationships from beginning to end – some will last a lifetime, others won’t- and love is the bedrock of relationships.

Enough of the talk talk that’s like “OP”. Love, to me is a decision, not a feeling. I’m not saying feelings are not in love oh, I’m only saying that they are the FRUITS, not the ROOT of love. Most couples at the cliff of divorce when asked seperately, whether they love each other, they, majority of the times, as stated by counsellors, will answer in the positive. Though, what they feel at that time is like the opposite. A child still loves the mother that shouted at or beat her, though she feels very sad (If you’re within the African continent you’ll understand this). What I’m saying is this, if love were to be a feeling, we’ll not only have broken homes, but a broken planet, and I mean that literarily!! The world will be full of people with “deca-polar” personality disorder.

image

At different points what you feel for the things or people you love may be a galaxy apart from the love you have decided to have for them. Love is a decision, and this is especially so for people dating and by extension the married. If he took your breath away the first day you saw him, your lungs just needed to be filled, it wasn’t love. If you had goose pimples the first time you met her, bros that day was cold, it was winter (or harmattan in Nigeria) and you weren’t in thick clothes. It was not love. If she gave you butterflies in your tummy, on your first discourse, it was not love, you probably hadn’t eaten for hours.
Those feelings do not define what love is. They don’t.

Love is a decision to share, care and add value to a person or thing. Feelings come as a fruit of that decision. Please, I feel love too oh. I still miss the special people in my life, I still feel like teleporting to where they are right now, I still smile when I imagine their faces and the times we share.

Merry Christmas once again. Special Shout Out to LEAP Africa’s S2W 11.15. Love and miss you guys.

So, what does love mean to you? I LOVEEEEEEE to hear see your comments.

Not Your Usual Love Poem

Aside Posted on

Hello guys,

Long time no connect. Just enjoy this, with love.

Amidst the yawning and the stretching
Her body on my bed and her skin on mine
Took me far beyond cloud nine
The brightness of her eyes too powerful
Much more than radiography on a cancer patient
It sure could heal all ills
The warmth of her breath on my lips
Melted the lip cracks cause by this dry “Saharian” wind on a trip
Her arms, caressing life into me
Perusing my ebony skin from crown to toe
Sending chills, no, warmth down my spine
She rolled me up in her
Cuddling me like an infant
For you, I’ll remain a baby forever!
I want to have you both day and night
I wish it will ever be possible
I love you sweetheart
I love you dear SUN

SO YOU WANT TO BE THE BEST?

Happy New Year!
It’s been more than a while really. Just enjoy this post and be inspired.

Well, it’s a good thing to want a good thing-to want to be the best at what you do, or what you are aspiring to do. I’m just here to make you rethink that thought.

The term best, is a superlative function of a CLASS, that is, whenever BEST is mentioned, it is always defined by a class. That’s why the word “in” always follows this phrase “He is the best….”. One cannot talk about being the best without stating the class where that “best” is attained. You can be the best in mathematics, singing, football, acting, or whatever, or the best in Nigeria, Africa, or even the world. But note this, if your class exists, other classes exist also. And the bar for accruing best-ness in another class may be so high, that you- the best in your class- will be a minute entity when in that class.

This is what I’m proposing; if you struggle to be the best, that’s what you’ll be doing for the rest of your life- struggling!! Because you’ve placed yourself in the box of society created class, locked up that box, and have swallowed the key! You’ve left the measurement of your fulfillment in the hands of the society- bunch of people who don’t even know why you are here!! Being the best is good, but there’s something better….

It’s being YOUR BEST. See, there’s no one like you in all the earth. This is not some motivational mumbling to elate you, it is truth and truth is a living entity. You’re so unique, that if you decide to be(ing) your best, you become incomparable- you bring out the key to that box of society created class, open the box, and get out!! You get out to express yourself, to express your core, to be powerful. Trust me there’s no struggling here, just expression of inherent capacities. This way, you are not concerned with what to achieve or who to surpass, but with expressing the “best-ness” that you are made of. Society will still try to place you in a class when you’re doing this, but guess what? You cannot be placed because you’ll continually and continuously give her reason to review that placement. Your potential for productivity and fulfilment is inexhaustibly and unlimitedly limitless!! Your potential and mine is unimaginably bigger than imaginable- it is bigger than what we think they are!

You’ve got to choose between THE BEST and YOUR BEST, but choose YOUR BEST, I beseech thee!

Share your thoughts…….they are valued!

If Wishes Were Horses?

“If wishes were horses, beggars would ride”

image

Unfortunately, wishes aren’t horses, and all “wishers”, not beggars will NOT ride! Wait! Why will one just sit down and assume that all the good things of life will locate him from the north, south, east, west, top, bottom (oh, bottom means devil, sorry), everywhere, but himself? Sometimes I wonder when these “good” things developed legs. Even the human carriers of these good things cannot locate him. You know why? They don’t even know his address, he never came out of the house! For years, he has been wishing for a visitor that he does not know, have not invited, and cannot attract. Even if good things eventually get his adress and come visiting, he has no thing, as in, “nothing to offer”.

It is the undeniable feature of infancy to expect (positive) results when you have made no input. Why will an adult expect to just hit jackpot? Why will he imagine stuff like walking in the street and bump into a million dollars lounging by the corner of a bend? Why will he allow his mind to be this poor? Why will he waste this great function of imagination on unrealistic frivolities? Is there not a process, a route to follow? He should try and get rid of “Peter Pan-ness” quickly, and grow up!!

image

Let me tell you the secret to success………………………………….well, no secret at all. Just be clear about what you want to do, plan/develop a strategy to get it done, then get it done! There will be obstacles on the way, but your resolve, discipline, and determination will be able to conquer them. To start with, love (accommodating and giving), and service (solution providing) are key virtues one should portray.
