I was always one of those who blamed women for remaining in abusive homes, I would scoff when I heard such stories and my response was always the same, “the woman is not serious, did they tie her hands there, if it was me, I will fight back, and make my husband know he can’t bully me”, yes, those  were always my words, because,  you see in my mind, I could not come to terms with the fact that any woman would allow herself become a punching bag, for what?

I was always so adamant about my response, even when I discovered my younger sister was being physically abused by her husband, she ran to me asking for help, and all I could tell her was, you can help yourself, is he “GOD”, why do you keep staying there, leave him, make him know you are not his punching bag…
